- 12/29/00 - The Internet Sports Network (ISN), which hosts fantasy-sports and trivia games featured on SportsRocket.com, said it has run out of money, can't pay its debts and will file for bankruptcy protection.
- 12/29/00 - 24/7 Media, Inc., a global Internet media and technology company, will cut 100 jobs, bringing the total positions eliminated since last month to 300.
- 12/29/00 - LetsBuyIt.com, a Netherlands-based retailer, made the decision to seek protection from its creditors and may shut down its operations entirely.
- 12/29/00 - Covad Communications Group, a provider of high-speed DSL Internet access, will fire an additional 400 workers, or about 14 percent of its staff. The company also said it will close 200 offices where it houses equipment for Internet service.
- 12/28/00 - VCampus, an e-Learning Solution Provider, is reducing its workforce by 30% to put it on a path to profitability.
- 12/28/00 - Digital Broadband Communications, a DSL provider, announced it will shut down and cut off more than 1,000 customers in the beginning of 2001.
- 12/28/00 - Applied Microsystems Corp., a provider of technology and software development tools for high-speed networking, games and other markets, said it was cutting 8 percent of its workforce (about 20 people) as part of a plan to return to profitability in 2001.
- 12/28/00 - Jay S. Walker, Founder and the Board's Vice Chairman of Priceline.com, will step down from the board on Dec. 31 to focus on his duties as head of Walker Digital, LLC.
- 12/27/00 - Quepasa.com said it plans to sell all Web businesses, including quepasa.com, realestateespanol.com, etrato.com and credito.com, and all furniture, fixtures and equipment under a liquidation plan. Quepasa had cut 38 of 58 jobs in November and expects further cuts will follow.
- 12/27/00 - Network Associates, a software and computer-network security concern, warned it expects to report a surprise fourth-quarter loss and announced its three top executives are resigning.
- 12/26/00 - Internet.com, operator of more than 150 Web sites as well as hundreds of e-mail newsletters and discussion forums, has acquired EarthWeb.com, owner of 14 Web sites and 18 e-mail newsletters. EarthWeb will lay off about 100 workers and close several offices. Another 46 employees will be offered jobs at Internet.com.
